Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory. Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame. Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects. Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?

This is nice! Love the subtle orange. Size is right for when you want to carry just a
little refreshment and don't want a clunker-bottle weighing you down. Water tastes a lot
better from it. A couple of..... good Gulps.

I love the stainless steel water bottle and no more worries about things that leak out of plastic water bottles. I try to keep this filled and with me at all times. The larger "mouth" makes it easy to clean.

I recently got into recreational bicycling and I needed a water bottle to replace the very cheap plastic one I had. I purchased a blue 27 oz. Klean Kanteen. I keeps my water cold for a very long time and the water doesn't taste metallic at all. The only complaint I have with the bottle I got was that the blue paint is coming off very easily. I've been trying my best to keep it from rubbing up on sharp metallic corners or falling on the concrete, however, the paint is still scratching off. Had I known this, I would've gotten the Klean Kanteen without color. That's the only complaint I have with this bottle; it functions well otherwise and overall I'm happy with my purchase.

I might be hyper-sensitive to metallic tastes since others don't seem to have this problem, but for me drinking out of this bottle is like drinking out of an old canteen. I washed it multiple times; the taste never left. It's unfortunate, the bottle was great in every other way, I'm sure the water quality is fine but I'll probably give it to someone who would enjoy it more.

I purchased the 12 oz with a sports cap for my daughter. The bottle looks great, I love the design of it. However, I'd like it much better if it was insulated. We live in the south, and if you put cold beverages in it, the bottle sweats almost immediately. That's my only gripe with it, other than that, I love it! I will probably buy a couple of bigger ones for my husband.
